5. In 2004, a project
for women small business owners was launched. The survey was conducted in three
residential areas in the cities of Sulaymaniyah, Erbil and Dohuk with three
workshops in the three cities with the support of the American organization
RTI. More than 150 women participated in the workshops The aim was to know the
role of women in the economy, ie the private sector, and their development
6- In 2005, we started to work on
the development of youth entrepreneurship with the support of ( CIPE ) and we
were the first organization in this field and we implemented the following :
6-1- From 2005 to 2008 we
implemented 24 youth workshops, especially for university graduates and last
year students at Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Dohuk and Kirkuk to encourage and educate
the initiative. The number of participants reached 713 participants
6-2- The workshops lasted for three
days, including training on plans: administration, finance, market, business
environment and ethics of work in the free market. On the last day, the
business plans were implemented by the groups of participants.
6-3- Young people who received
training 25% of them started their small business and if no random and exeesive
government appointment to become much larger
6-4- We invited senior government
officials on the last day of the workshops to give the award to the winning
group and we meant to know the government official the
entrepreneurship and the ability of young people to develop business plans
, we as an organization have taken care of this and the government to work
to support young entrepreneurs , and attended the Deputy Minister of
Finance and Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of the Investment
Board .. etc ..
6-5- We provided
for each participants a CD in both Kurdish and Arabic with
all the necessary information for entrepreneurs to start the business (we
received a CD from CIPE prepared in Egypt in Arabic called
"Efham" and we translated CD into Kurdish )
6-6- During the workshops, 117
business plans were prepared by the participating groups. Unfortunately, the
majority of participants did not consider implementing these wonderful plans
due to the unfavorable environment of the business and the initiatives to start
the business as well because of the broad, easy and encouraging government
appointment, but later others started similar projects and succeeded, Of which
more than 170 jobs have been created
6-7 - Salahuddin University was
cooperating with us to a large extent more than the rest of the universities
and in particular the head of the Department of Economics Dr. Mohammed Salman
Barwari where we carried out 9 workshops with 3 conferences in the university
from 2006 to 2008 and benefited their students and their teachers, especially
because we rarely found this level of cooperation and attention to others
7-1-Conducting field research in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil
on the problems of young people to be entrepreneurs in 2006-2007 with
the support of CIPE . The study included 300 7-young men and women.
7-2-The
result of the research showed the reluctance of young people to be
entrepreneurs because of fear of failure and loss because of lack of
encouragement, experience and support, for example, lack of adventure
capital , and so far there is no, but there is encouragement and
preparation for work at the government and move away from the
entrepreneurship
