Mohammed " I want to become a doctor in the future, so that I can help my relatives and heal the injured of the ISIS battles"
Mohammed is an intelligent 11-year-old
boy. He is from Anbar, Ramadi, he used to live a happy life with his family and
dreamed of becoming a doctor. He tried hard, and put all his efforts into
achieving his goal and making his dream come true. Unfortunately, after the
Isis battles have begun, Mohammed's family were forced to leave their town and
headed to some different places, and finally they settled in Sulaymaniyah.
Due to this
displacement Mohammed was out of school, and felt that all of a sudden his
dream of becoming a doctor faded away. His dad was too sick to work and support
his family so Mohammed made the decision to do so. Since he could speak
Kurdish, he had the chance to work in a grocery store as a translator, and he
was only getting one thousand Iraqi Dinar per day. Mohammed went through too
much and worked hard for his livelihood. Despite of being tired, he was
miserable and depressed since his family were surrounded by problems. One day
his sister suggested him to enter the Kurdistan Economic Development Organization so that he could
forget about this miserable
life for sometimes and enjoy his childhood. At first he was bored and his mind
was only captured by the obstacles and troubles in which they were trapped. But
after participating in some of the activities and Awareness Sessions about
child rights and child labor disadvantages, he could restore his
self-confidence, and decided to quit working and move towards in the direction
of his dream, " since my uncles are doctors, I want to
become a doctor in the future, so
that I can help my relatives and heal the injured of the ISIS battles"
Now, thanks to Kurdistan Economic
Development Organization, Mohammed is back to school, he no longer has to
suffer and worry about his future. He feels safe, restful, secure and totally
free from disturbance.
“If dad allows me I prefer to stay at
the center all day long, even I would like to spend the night here".
